Rural mental health access expanding with new Marshfield, Mo., clinic opening Monday

MARSHFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Burrell Behavioral Health is expanding its access for rural communities with a new clinic opening in Marshfield, Mo., on Monday.

Burrell leaders said the new building will serve clients not only in Webster County, but also in Wright, Laclede, Dallas, and Douglas Counties.

There was an old Burrell location in Marshfield, but the new location is much bigger. It offers more services such as addiction recovery, adult and youth outpatient, psychiatry, telehealth, and more.

“Out here in the rural communities, we often find a lot of isolation, being that it is away from bigger cities. We tend to deal with a lot of things, such as isolation, loneliness, which is contributing to depression,” said Burrell therapist Coral Krueger.

Clay Goddard is the Southwest President of Burrell’s parent company. Goddard said the new clinic will help break barriers for those who can’t always drive far away for care.

“All of these counties are growing. A lot of times, it’s double-digit growth decade over decade. We want to make sure we don’t create barriers to behavioral health care. A 30 or 40 minute drive is a real barrier,” Goddard said.

You can get to the new Marshfield clinic off Interstate 44. It’s officially open to the public starting on Monday.
