Is it trade season already? It certainly seems to be.
Baseball’s trade deadline isn’t until July 31, but the Boston Red Sox got ahead of things early, shipping Rafael Devers — the last remaining prominent figure from their 2018 World Series championship squad — to the San Francisco Giants.
The NBA got in on the trade action as well, even while the hard-fought finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers continued to rage on. On Sunday, the Memphis Grizzlies signaled their intention to jump into rebuild mode by shipping off 26-year-old guard Desmond Bane.
We’ll have more on both of these surprising moves in this week’s news quiz, but that’s not all. We’ll touch on several other topics as well, from hot dog eating contests to “Ted Lasso” to the College World Series and beyond.
Good luck, and if you have a moment, you should play our daily Connections: Sports Edition, too!
