The most streamed show of 2025 so far is … the same as the most streamed show of 2024.
Kids’ favorite Bluey has kept its hold on the top of the U.S. streaming rankings for the first half of the year. Nielsen figures for January to June show the series has amassed 25.06 billion minutes of viewing this year — which puts it on a similar pace to last year’s total of 55.62 billion minutes. Bluey has appeared in Nielsen’s streaming ratings (either the overall list or the top 10 acquired series) for 143 straight weeks, dating back to October 2022.
Library series make up nine of the overall top 10 titles, with Netflix’s Squid Game the lone original. It ranks ninth with 15.07 billion viewing minutes, with most of that total attributable to viewing of season two, which premiered in late December 2024. The show’s third and final season bowed on June 27, one day before the end of Nielsen’s reporting period for June. (All figures cited in this story are totals from Dec. 29, 2024-June 28.)
Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers make up the rest of the overall top five after Bluey. Of the five, Bluey has the smallest library with 154 episodes; Grey’s, NCIS and Family Guy have more than 400 each.
Along with Netflix, five other streamers had original series land in the top 10. Prime Video’s Reacher (13.31 billion minutes of watch time) ranks second, Apple TV+’s Severance (9.28 billion) is fifth, Max’s The Pitt (8.23 billion) is eighth and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale (8.17 billion) is ninth. Paramount+ is the only outlet other than Netflix to have multiple originals in the top 10 with 1923 (8.54 billion minutes, sixth place) and Landman (7.38 billion, 10th).
Two relatively recent premieres also made the top 20 originals, despite having only a few weeks to rack up viewing. Although Nielsen counts all past episodes of original shows in its viewing time totals, the current seasons of Ginny & Georgia (10.2 billion minutes for Netflix) and Love Island USA (5.41 billion minutes on Peacock) account for most of their totals
Moana 2 is the most streamed movie of the first half of the year at 7.23 billion minutes of viewing. Its predecessor, Moana, ranks fourth on the movie charts after leading each of the previous two full years.
