Samsung’s super-thin smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, has been officially launched. Now, with new deals being announced, it’s possible to trade in an older phone to get the new one for free.

Its 5.8mm thinness is eye-catching enough on paper, but doesn’t prepare you for just how remarkably different it feels compared to other handsets. Its light weight is also impressive, just 163g, in part down to the titanium build.

One of the first deals to land is one from AT&T, which has a limited-time trade-in offer. Available through att.com, the myAT&T app and in stores, customers can pre-order the new phone now, and have it in their hands at the end of the month, from Friday, May 30.

Samsung’s phone is not as pricey as the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it’s also not cheap, starting at $1,099 for the model with 256GB storage on board.

So, the trade-in offer is intriguing. Here’s how the company describes it: “For a limited time, get the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge on us when you trade in an eligible phone any year, any condition,” AT&T says.

This means that if you trade in your old phone and buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge outright, you’ll receive 36 monthly credits from AT&T which total $1,100, the cost of the phone.

Customers can trade-in any Samsung Galaxy S, Note or Z Series smartphone from any year in any condition, or they can trade-in any other smartphone that has a value of $35 after the condition assessment has been conducted.

The S25 Edge has two rear cameras, not the three you’ll find on the other phones in the Galaxy S25 series. But since one of them is a wide lens with a 200-megapixel sensor, there’s plenty of room for strong photography.

Similarly, the phone packs the same Qualcomm Snapdargon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy that’s in the other S25 models. This is a high-speed chip that has been customized for Samsung. It’s what powers features liket eh Now Brief and Now Bar, designed to make your phone pro-active in reminding you when you need to leave to catch a flight, for instance.

More offers will follow, including from Samsung itself with something called the Galaxy Club, a rewards program just launched in the U.K. and other countries, with 0% finance, Samsung Care and upgrade options.
