Rainy weather disrupts New Hampshire sports leagues this season
MANAGING WITH ALL THIS. WELL, MARISSA, I JUST A FEW MINUTES AGO SPOKE TO THE MANCHESTER LITTLE LEAGUE WHO SAYS THEY DO ACTUALLY HAVE A GAME SCHEDULED FOR RIGHT HERE IN THIS FIELD AT 730 AND THEY ARE STILL WAITING TO CALL IT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. WE ARE STARTING TO SEE SOME RAIN HERE IN MANCHESTER. NOT TOO MUCH JUST YET. WE ALSO KNOW THAT THEY’VE GOT SOME GAMES SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW FOR SATURDAY THAT THEY’RE ALREADY HAVING TO POSTPONE TO SUNDAY. SO THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT SO FAR THIS SEASON THEY REALLY HAVEN’T HAD THIS TOUGH OF A TIME TO GET THROUGH THEIR SEASON IN YEARS. WE ALSO DID SPEAK TO THE NEW HAMPSHIRE INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ABOUT THE LOGISTICS THEY’VE BEEN DEALING WITH ACROSS THE STATE. THEY SAY IT’S BEEN A CHALLENGE RESCHEDULING SO MANY WEATHER RELATED POSTPONED GAMES, ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW WITH ALL OF THE GRADUATION CEREMONIES THAT ARE BEING RESCHEDULED TO A LOT OF THESE SPORTS GAMES AND GRADUATIONS TAKE PLACE AT THE SAME VENUES. SO THE NIH SAYS THEY’VE BEEN TRYING REALLY HARD TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE. THEY SAY MOST OF THEIR REGULAR SEASON SPORTS GAMES WEREN’T IMPACTED, SO THAT’S GOOD. BUT IT’S JUST THIS LAST STRETCH OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND THE RAINY SPRING WE’VE BEEN HAVING THAT’S CAUSING SOME SERIOUS ISSUES. IT’S DIFFICULT. I COULDN’T TELL YOU EXACTLY HOW MANY POSTPONEMENTS THERE HAVE BEEN. FOR REGULAR SEASON. I MEAN, IT’S JUST NUMEROUS. AND SO WHILE WE’RE CONTINUING TO LOOK AHEAD TO THE WEEKEND, WE’RE ALSO HEARING ABOUT SOME OUTDOOR EVENTS THAT ARE HAVING TO BE CANCELED OR POSTPONED BECAUSE OF THE RAIN AND THE WEATHER, TOO. FOR EXAMPLE, WE’RE LEARNING THAT THE APPALOOSA HORSE SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELED. OFFICIALS SAY THAT’S PARTLY BECAUSE OF THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF THE WEATHER. SO CLEARLY THERE HAVE BEEN EVENTS PLANNED MONTHS, WEEKS IN ADVANCE. THEY’RE HAVING TO BE CANCELED, AND IT’S REALLY PUTTING A DAMPER ON SOME PEOPLE’S PLAN
