FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Parkview Health and Trine University are partnering to provide surgical technology students with support with tuition and employment.
Through the Parkview Academy of Surgical Technology, Trine University says up to 10 students entering its Associate of Applied Science in surgical technology program this fall will receive paid tuition through a Questa Education Foundation forgivable loan and apprenticeships that include paid positions with benefits as Parkview Health co-workers.
The organizations say the academy will benefit surgical technology students by embedding education within their employment, enabling them to enter the workforce prepared to serve in operating rooms.
After the completion of their degree, surgical technology students in the academy will then be placed in a surgical technologist position at Parkview Health.
“Parkview Academy graduates will launch their careers at the region’s top healthcare provider,” said Lisa Clemens, dean of Trine University’s Brooks College of Health Professions. “This provides a huge benefit for our students while filling an area of critical need for Parkview.”
“The successful collaboration... exemplifies our mutual commitment to the surgical technology profession, the individual students seeking this professional path, and our support in ensuring their success,” said Jessica Murphy, vice president of surgical services for Parkview Health.
