OnePlus has been making some of the best full-size Android tablets on the market as of late, and now a rumor suggests that the company is planning on making its own 8-inch Android tablet for gamers.
The age of the tiny tablet has truly arrived. Following Lenovo’s Legion Tab (Gen 3) expanding to the global market earlier this year, Redmagic is also planning to launch its “Astra” gaming tablet with a 9-inch OLED display on the global market in July.
OnePlus is apparently next in line, should a new leak prove correct.
On Weibo, leaker Smart Pikachu claims (h/t NotebookCheck) that OnePlus is readying a new gaming tablet with an 8.X-inch display that runs at 165Hz and has “3k” resolution. That’s not far off from tablets from Lenovo and Redmagic, but it’s absolutely welcome news nonetheless.
OnePlus smartphones are already among the best options for mobile gamers (outside of dedicated gaming phones), and the company’s global reach would make for a compelling iPad Mini alternative. That is, should the tablet hit the global market. OnePlus has limited some of its more recent releases – the OnePlus 13T/13s most notably – to limited markets, so it’s hard to imagine that a fairly niche Android tablet would see any major expansion. Still, it’s exciting to hear.
In the more imminent future, the OnePlus Pad Lite, an 11-inch tablet, is set to launch in July.
