NetEase Games and its 24 Entertainment Studio have officially revealed Blood Message, their first AAA single-player action-adventure title, coming to PC and consoles. Developed in Unreal Engine 5 and supported by custom-built tech, Blood Message aims to deliver a powerful and cinematic narrative set in the dying days of the Tang Dynasty.

Set against the vast and unforgiving landscapes of East and Central Asia, Blood Message tells the story of a nameless messenger and his son, who are tasked with delivering a world-changing message from the besieged city of Dunhuang to the empire’s heart in Chang’an. Along the way, players will encounter ruthless enemies, brutal terrain, and a historical world soaked in blood, sand, and sacrifice.

The game blends narrative-driven gameplay with survival mechanics and visceral third-person combat, all while weaving a heartfelt tale of loyalty, fatherhood, and legacy. According to the developers, the story pays tribute not to emperors and generals, but to the forgotten heroes of history—ordinary people whose actions echo across time.

“We are ushering players into a new generation of high adventure with Blood Message,” said NetEase EVP Zhipeng Hu. “It’s a story that reminds us history is written not just by the powerful, but by the brave.”

Blood Message Key Features:

  • Cinematic storytelling rooted in Chinese history and culture
  • Stealth-driven, realistic combat that emphasizes survival
  • Emotionally resonant narrative centered on family, duty, and sacrifice
  • Expansive landscapes, from deserts to war-torn fortresses, were inspired by Dunhuang and Central Asia
