Magic Linked to $100 Million NBA Trade Rumor for Playmaker

The Orlando Magic have yet another season to build on after making it to the playoffs once again. Though they lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round, the future is bright, and it seems like they're in win-now mode. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner took another step this season, and it seems like they're missing that one piece that can get them over the hump.

It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Magic be aggressive during the offseason and try to find another piece to add to the team, and they have already been in trade rumors for certain point guards around the league.

Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero shoots the ball against Boston Celtics guard Derrick White in the second quarter during game five of first round for the 2025 NBA Playoffs at TD Garden.

One player who has been connected to the Magic is Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons, according to The Stein Line.

"The 25-year-old is an Orlando native who would certainly blend in nicely from a timeline perspective alongside Banchero (22) and Wagner (23)," The Stein Line wrote. "Simons' proven ability to score makes it conceivable that he could generate more external interest than anyone in that quartet."

The one thing that the Magic need is a scoring guard who can also get players involved, and Simons has proven through his young career that he can do that.

Simons is currently playing on a four-year, $100 million contract, and the Magic could try to find a way to make a deal for him this offseason. A player like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could be included in the deal, and it may end up being a multi-player trade.

Simons averaged 19.3 points and 4.8 assists this season.
