It's not every day that college football programs have the chance to gain a commitment from an undisputed five-star prospect, and it's even rarer to have an opportunity to welcome a top-five recruit in the country.
This is an opportunity head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators will be afforded this week, as 2026 five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo announced his commitment date on Monday.
The Mansfield, Texas native told On3's Hayes Fawcett he will choose his future school this Friday, July 4.
Ojo is as highly praised as they come. He is the fifth-highest-ranked recruit in the nation and is the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country in the Top247 rankings for the class of 2026.
Napier and the Gators will have to fend off three blue blood programs of the sport to get Ojo's commitment, as he will choose between Florida, Texas, Michigan and Ohio State on Friday.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive lineman earned MVP honors at the Dallas Under Armour Next event in February, where he showed off his size, athletic prowess and immense power up front. He has also been named to both the Polynesian Bowl and Navy All-American Bowl rosters.
"Looks like one of the top OT prospects in the 2026 class with potential to become a multi-year high-major tackle with ample pro potential," said 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks.
Every play starts in the trenches. This is something Florida knows well and recruits accordingly. Coming into the 2025 season, the Gators have the No. 4 offensive line in the country, according to Pro Football Focus.
Napier is looking for a big splash with Ojo to join that powerful line, who would become Florida's first five-star commitment in the 2026 class. The Gators, along with the three other schools vying for Ojo to put on their hat, will be watching intently on Independence Day.
