No. 7 Moorhead 11, No. 3 Bemidji 3

BEMIDJI — No. 7 seed Moorhead again defeated a higher seed in the Section 8-4A tournament, dispatching No. 3 Bemidji on Thursday on the road.

The Spuds’ Austin Schwantz was 3-for-5 with three RBI, Ben Fredrickson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, and Brady Steffen had two hits and two RBI.

Starter Drake Kuzna went six innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out seven, to get the win. Fredrickson pitched the seventh.

The Spuds, who defeated No. 2 seed Sartell in the first round, take on No. 1 seed St. Michael-Albertville in a section semifinal game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in Cold Spring, Minn.

Barnesville 3, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 2

PERHAM — South No. 6 seed Barnesville edged South No. 2 Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in a Section 8-2A second round game on Thursday in Perham.

DGF rebounded from the loss to defeat Hawley 17-1 in a section elimination game Thursday.

Against Barnesville, DGF took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second but the Trojans scored three runs in the top of the third to take the lead. Barnesville pitchers Brady Nosal and Gannon Bolgrean kept the Rebels off the board the final five innings.

Bolgrean had two hits, Alex Dorton had a hit and an RBI and Elias Cox had an RBI.

DGF’s Cayson Bergee and Wes Hoover both had hits and RBI and Zander Deutsch had two hits.

Against Hawley, DGF’s Alex Anderson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, and Bergee was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Dylan Anderson went all five innings, allowing a run on four hits, to get the win.

DGF plays Roseau in an elimination game at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, in Park Rapids.

MOORHEAD — No. 1 seed Moorhead defeated No. 9 Rocori in a Section 8-A quarterfinals game on Thursday.

Moorhead plays host to No. 5 Elk River in the semifinals on Tuesday, June 3.

MOORHEAD — No. 2 seed Moorhead downed No. 7 Brainerd in a Section 8-A quarterfinals matchup on Thursday.

The Spuds play host to No. 3 St. Michael-Albertville in the semifinals on Tuesday, June 3.
