Nintendo Switch 2 supports almost every game from its predecessors’ library, but not every fan-favorite title was able to make the cut. While 1000s of games will be running smoothly, there are a few that are facing some technical roadblocks—from hardware mismatches to discontinued services.
These exceptions highlight the hidden costs of the console evolution. Here is what will not make a leap and why the loyalists might wish to keep the old Switch handy.
Games that will not run on Switch 2

There are also streaming apps that are facing obsolescence.
Crunchyroll, Hulu, and some Japan-exclusive platforms like ABEMA and Niconico. They will now not function, likely due to the discontinued partnerships or the outdated software frameworks. InkyPen, the manga service, has joined the list, leaving digital readers in a lurch. All these exclusions highlight the risks of the app-based content on the evolving hardware ecosystem.While most of the Switch games will transition to Switch 2 smoothly, there are many that will face issues. As of now, the above list is what’s been confirmed by Nintendo in terms of compatibility issues. For the ones that still have some home, for those all the fans can do is wait till the testing continues or updates are offered to support the game down the line.
