A new dual-GPU graphics card is reportedly coming, with more VRAM than an RTX 5090

An Intel GPU partner is reportedly working on a custom Intel Arc B580 graphics card that chains two of the gaming GPUs together, like the old SLI graphics cards of yesteryear. Not only that, but it reportedly has a whopping 48GB of VRAM – even more than the mighty RTX 5090.

Multi-GPU setups for gaming have been tried and tested in the past, but they've never really caught on, and we weren't expecting this tech to raise its head again in 2025, especially with an Intel GPU. The best graphics cards are powerful enough individually, and multi-GPU setups can introduce compatibility problems too, although we're sure that the most committed gaming enthusiasts would still like to own one if they could.

This unusual-sounding design was initially reported by Videocardz which, despite knowing the board partner, isn't naming the company involved. The site says it received a "clear response" from the manufacturers that it wasn't able to comment, due to a non-disclosure agreement in place, although that doesn't necessarily confirm or deny the existence of such a product.

According to Videocardz, it's expected that this dual-GPU B580 card will be unveiled during the Computex 2025 trade show. The site says it doesn't use an Intel reference design, but instead relies on a custom layout that incorporates the two Intel Arc B580 GPUs on a single board.

It's also expected to come with 48GB VRAM (24GB for each GPU), although no other details are available. While existing Intel Arc B580 graphics cards only ship with 12GB VRAM, recent Intel GPU rumors have suggested that a 24GB Intel Battlemage graphics card is in development.

A card like this wouldn't really make sense in a gaming setup, though, with AI the most likely target, especially given the high demand for processing power and VRAM by local language models. With only a week to go until Computex starts, we'll be looking out for some of Intel's partners to get a glimpse at what might be a particularly unusual card, even if it is a novelty.
